Sno and Supernovae
نویسنده
چکیده
a The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) has unique capabilities as a supernova detector. In the event of a galactic supernova there are opportunities, with the data that SNO would collect, to constrain certain intrinsic neutrino properties significantly, to test details of the various models of supernova dynamics, and to provide prompt notification to the astronomical community through the Supernova Early Warning System (SNEWS). This paper consists of a discussion of these opportunities illustrated by some preliminary Monte Carlo results.

Probing Quark Matter In Neutron Stars
The presence of quark matter in neutron star interiors may have distinctive signatures in basic observables such as (i) masses and radii [1], (ii) surface temperatures versus age [2], (iii) spin-down rates of milli-second pulsars [3], and (iv) neutrino luminosities from future galactic core collapse supernovae [4]. I highlight recent developments in some of these areas with a view towards asses...
متن کاملStructural and Optical Study of SnO Nanoparticles Synthesized Using Microwave–Assisted Hydrothermal Route
SnO nanoparticles were synthesized using microwave–assisted hydrothermal method. It was noticed that at 300 and 600 watt microwave power, SnO formed and remained in the tetragonal phase. At 900 watt, SnO2 started appearing and a mixture of SnO and SnO2 phases coexisted. The particle size varied from ~2 to ~13 nm at 300 to 900 watt radiation power. The UV-V absorption spectra showed the excitoni...
متن کاملMass signature of supernova n μ and nt neutrinos in the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory
Core-collapse supernovae emit of order 10 neutrinos and antineutrinos of all flavors over several seconds, with average energies of 10–25 MeV. In the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory ~SNO!, which begins operation this year, neutrinos and antineutrinos of all flavors can be detected by reactions which break up the deuteron. For a future Galactic supernova at a distance of 10 kpc, several hundred eve...
متن کاملIonic liquid-assisted synthesis, characterization and photocatalytic properties of SnO microflowers with nanosheet subunits
In this study, simple ionic liquid-assisted preparation of SnO microflowers with nanosheet subunitsunder reflux condition without calcination were described. Samples were synthesized using 1-pentyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide, [pmim]Br, as an ionic liquid in different molar ratio, sodium hydroxideand Tin(II) chloride. The results show that SnO with high purity and uniform size...
متن کاملA Low Temperature Hydrothermal Synthesis of ZnO Doped SnO2 Nanoparticles with High Photocatalytic Activity
The paper reports the preparation and photocatalytic activity of ZnO doped SnO2 nanoparticles. These nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Their grain sizes are about 50-100 nm. The characterization results revealed that the synthesized nanoparticles possess just cr...
